What is A News Server?PCast connects to a News Server to get the pictures. Without a news server PCast will not work. What is My News Server called? You news server is the name of your ISP with news in the front. eg if your ISP is OneNet.com your news server will most likely be news.onenet.com. Also use the last part of your email address with news in front, so joe@dialin.com would have a news server on news.dialin.com News Servers for AOL, MSN and other ISPsAOL and MSN do not offer news servers. You will need to pay extra for news server access. PCast recommends Giganews Usenet as our prefered and tested server. Giganews - serving USENET consumers and Internet service providers in over 170 different countries. How Can I Find Another News Server? Why Do I have to 'Get Groups'?There are over 30,000 news groups. Most ISP's only have about 15,000. By pressing the get groups button PCast will purge all the groups your ISP does not have. Tell me more about AOL & MSNThese two companies do not use standard news servers. Microsoft actually goes out of their way to ensure only Outlook Express will work with their server. If you use either of these Service Providers you are limited in the service you get and the software you can use. We recommend a hi-speed modem Earthlink. or Giganews.
